Walking into a new clinic for the first time can feel intimidating—especially when the internet is full of conflicting advice. At Lumina Aesthetics in Raleigh, we structure your first visit so you can slow down, ask questions, and leave with a clear plan, whether or not you choose to treat that day.
Before You Arrive
After you book, our team may send intake forms. They cover medical history, medications, and any past treatments. These details help us keep you safe and make thoughtful recommendations. If you are unsure what to include, you can always ask when you check in.
Check-In and Welcome
When you arrive, our concierge will greet you, confirm your information, and answer initial questions about timing or logistics. The space is intentionally calm: soft lighting, uncluttered rooms, and a pace that allows conversation rather than rushing you straight into a procedure.
Meeting Your Provider
You will then meet with a clinical provider—often a physician or PA, depending on your needs. This is your time to share:
- what you notice in the mirror or in photos
- what you like and want to maintain
- any upcoming events or deadlines
We will look at your face or skin in good light, sometimes from multiple angles, and discuss how movement, volume, and skin quality all play a role.
The Conversation
Expect an honest, two-way conversation. We will ask about:
- your comfort with downtime
- your past experiences with treatments (if any)
- your preferences around subtle vs. more noticeable change
We will also review your routine—products, treatments, and any prescriptions—so we can avoid conflicts and support what is already working.
Recommendations and Pricing
Once we understand your goals and anatomy, we will outline options. For example, you may hear:
- “Neuromodulator here would soften the frown lines without freezing your brows.”
- “A small amount of filler in this area could restore structure without looking ‘done.’”
- “Given your timeline, this skin treatment makes sense; this other one does not.”
We will explain typical downtime and how many visits we anticipate. Pricing is transparent and discussed before any treatment is booked. If it makes more sense to stage a plan over time, we will say so and map that out with you.
Same-Day Treatment—Or Not
In some cases—especially for straightforward neuromodulator treatments—same-day treatment may be appropriate if you are comfortable. For others, such as filler or more complex plans, we often recommend a separate visit so you have space to think and schedule around your life.
You are never expected to decide in the room. A thoughtful “not today” is always an acceptable answer.
After the Consultation
At the end of your visit you will have a written or clearly outlined plan, an understanding of costs, and a realistic sense of downtime and results. You can:
- book your first treatment visit
- schedule another consultation to revisit options
- go home, consider everything, and reach out later
We remain available for follow-up questions by phone or email. Our measure of a successful first consultation is not whether you are treated that day—it is whether you feel informed, heard, and in control of the next step.
